Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel Review

Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel is the premier 5 star luxury hotel in the center of Dijon, France. Built in 1884, this historic hotel had Princess Grace of Monaco as a regular visitor. Dijon is central to the Burgundy region of France and surrounding vineyards, making the Sofitel a great base for your stay.

It takes about a 3 minutes taxi ride to get to the Grand Hotel La Cloche from the Dijon train station. There is a park located across the street from the hotel entrance, and a little town center with restaurants and bars around the corner.

The Luxurious Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel

It was end of May in Dijon, I decided to stay at the luxurious Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel; a base for our Burgundy wine tour. I was with 3 other girls, and we checked in for one night, at a rate of US$240 a night. The average cost for a standard room in July or August is about US$300 a night.

The interior of the Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel is ultra modern but classy; decorated with artwork that pops out at you. Neutrals mixed with bright hues, hard lines mixed with soft fabrics, this hotel is a uniquely inspirational place.

With a minimal check in area, the hotel really opens up to a large open bar, a fine dining restaurant, and a spectacular garden out back. Located on the floor beneath is the wonderful Sofitel spa. The Sofitel has 83 rooms and 5 suites and apartments to cater to every quests needs.

Rooms at The Grand Hotel La Cloche

The rooms at the Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel are just as wonderful as the rest of the hotel. White walls, with bright blue and white bedding, dark heavy curtains, awesome artwork, finished off with gray shag carpet; didn’t think it could work but it works. The room is beautiful; small but just the right size for a one or two night stay.

Taking up most of the room is the large bed that is amazingly comfortable. The rooms are quiet, and you can shut the light out at any time with the curtains, allowing for the best night sleep. As small as the rooms are, the Sofitel still manages to fit a desk, television, and a mini fridge packed with essentials.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms in the standard room are split; bathrooms in one room, and across the way are the tub and sink. The tub is large and made of white marble, with great water pressure…amazing. The bathroom comes complete with luxurious soaps, shampoos, and super comfortable robes. The two things I would fix are the hand held shower head and adding trash bins. Extend the holder upwards, so that the shower head can be level with someone standing, and add trash bins to the toilet room.

Amenities

*Pets are allowed to stay with you.
*Private appointments must be made to use the spa

The Spa

The spa at Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel is where you can find serenity; relax your muscles and calm your nerves. Make a reservation for a massage, take a refreshing dip in the lap pool, or clear your pores and lungs in the steam or sauna rooms. The sauna and steam rooms are small, fitting about 3 or 4 people comfortably. Wash it all away with one of several massaging water features from the rain shower. After your massage enjoy some tea or infused waters, while you pamper your yourself with some of the best skincare creams. The staff working are informative, friendly and have lots of patients.

Dining at The Grand Hotel La Cloche

Les Jardins by Cloche

The Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel offers fine dining situated in a one of a kind setting. Les Jardins by Cloche is a restaurant where you can enjoy an exquisite lunch or dinner. Your senses running high while you are embedded in dark colors with a splash of bright blue and gold, and artwork that pops up from every corner.

Either select an à la carte menu or a fixed 4 course menu. Prices run on the more expensive side; a small charcuterie will cost around US $20. Service was a bit rude, but they were patient with us as we weren’t the easiest of customers.

Food is delicious here, combined with the ambiance, Les Jardins by Cloche is a perfect place to have a special or important meal.

4 Out Of 5 For The Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel

This hotel is truly unique and may be the best part of the Dijon city center. Furthermore I feel this hotel would get 5 stars if wait staff at Les Jardins were more friendly, and if the Sofitel offered a few additional services…free transportation to and from the Dijon train stations. Perhaps even a cheaper rate for private transportation to and from the Basal airport. Or even it’s own vineyard tour.
