Saffron and Ginger Tea Recipe

One of the worst things that can happen when you are on vacation is to be sick. Stay healthy when you travel with this Saffron and Ginger tea recipe. You encounter so many germs when you travel, from airports, planes to public transportation and other people.

Health Benefits of Saffron and Ginger Tea

There are many health benefits to drinking saffron and ginger tea. Saffron has been proven to be a natural antibiotic while the ginger has been known to be a natural immune booster. Mix the two together and you have one strong homeopathic remedy to fight against germs when you travel. I make this homemade saffron and ginger tea from scratch for a week leading up to my travel, and I stay healthy every trip.

Saffron and Ginger Tea Recipe Ingrediants:

  • Saffron: A pinch of Saffron strands (about 5 to 8 strands)
  • Water: 1 to 2 cups
  • Ginger Root: About a 1 to 2 tablespoons of thinly sliced ginger root
  • Cinnamon: 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Ground Turmeric: 1 tsp of ground Turmeric
  • Fresh Lemon: A half of fresh lemon juice and then slice the lemon half
  • Honey: 1 to 2 tbs of organic honey

Saffron and Ginger Tea Recipe Instructions:

    1. Place a pinch of saffron strands in a cup, and add a bit of water so the saffron is covered.
Put the cup to the side, as the water will start extracting the oils from the saffron strands.
    2. Add 1 to 2 cups of water in a small to medium sauce pan. Place the pan over low to medium heat on the oven.
    3. Take the ginger root and thinly slice about 1 to 2 tablespoons worth of fresh ginger root and place into pot.
    4. Add 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks in to the pot of heated water.
    5. Add 1 teaspoon of ground Turmeric to the pot.
    6. Take a half of fresh lemon and squeeze the juice into the pan. Take that same half of lemon and thinly slice it and place into pan.
    7. Let the pot of water with ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, and lemon heat up in the pan for about 10 minutes; just before it reaches it’s boiling point.
    8. Remove seasoned water from heat and add the water to the cup with saffron.
    9. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of organic honey to tea.
    10. Enjoy your fresh homemade tea.
      • If making before bed I also like to add a whole banana (skin and all) to the tea. Bananas help you to sleep.
      • Add ice cubes to bring down the temperature of the tea if it is too hot

It is important to note, do not consume more than 4 cups of this tea a day. As saffron can have a potent effect on the body if over consumed.

I swear by my Saffron and Ginger tea, as I have been making and drinking this for the past 5 years and it works. For more recipes with saffron check out Benefits from Saffron.
